About Us...
Sweet Baby Jane's is about my love of knitting and my passion for anything baby. I started making sampler afghans during my college years, then made baby blankets and baby items after my son was born, and now I knit for my grandchildren and anyone else who wants a baby hat, dress or sweater for their little one.
While keeping my full time job in higher education, I started to sell my baby hats along with baby toys, and more and more people started requesting them for their family and friends, so I decided to cut back my hours at work and turn Sweet Baby Jane's into a real business.
In addition to the hat sets and dresses I make, I decided to offer some special products like the Gund animals, educational toys, and environmentally safe and green products.
I sell from my online store as well as in my shoppe in beautiful Hampton Falls, NH. I also show and sell at craft fairs when I can find the time.
When I knit I don't use patterns. I start by going into my yarn room...I pick out color combos and textures that I like, add matching ribbon when appropriate, then I'm off to try something new. Or if a customer wants something custom-made with certain colors and yarns, I'll gather those and then start creating.
I find I always have an idea of what I want to try next while I'm still in the middle of a current project. Occasionally, I'll work out an idea on paper, but usually I just start to knit and design the hat or dress while I'm creating it. That's the fun part...I usually don't know how it will turn out, and some of my favorite designs have been mistakes that I decided to work into the pattern anyway!
